Judson to present Mozart concertos
Judson University, along with Stateline Music Foundation of Freeport, will present a chamber orchestra concert of three Mozart piano concertos featuring a copy of a fortepiano at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 28, in the Thulin Performance Hall in the Thompson Center, 1151 N. State St., Elgin.
This will be a rare opportunity to hear an early keyboard instrument that dates back to Mozart's time. This fortepiano is a copy like the instruments made by Austrian maker Anton Walter (1752-1822).
The program will showcase the talents of Judson's associate music professor Sojung Lee Hong, along with University of Illinois School of Music professor emeritus Kenneth Drake and Jun-Hee Han, a graduate of the Chicago Conservatory of the Performing Arts and Indiana University.
The program will include the Concertos in B-flat major, K. 238, A major, K. 414, and C major, K. 415, performed by Hong, Drake and Han, respectively. Han will play the C major Concerto, conducting from the piano, as Mozart would have done.
Tickets will be available at the door for $10 or $5 for students. For details, visit www.judsonu.edu.
