Woodstock native makes kids' movie dedicated to his late son

WOODSTOCK, Ill. (AP) - A Woodstock native has made a children's film to honor his son who died of brain cancer.

The (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1CgRoqc ) Chris Parrish wrapped up principal photography in December on an adventure called "Thrill Ride." It is based on an idea from his son, Mason.

Mason died at age 10 in 2011 of brain cancer. Shortly before his death, he asked his father if they could make movies together when he was older.

The film involves three kids who sneak into an old amusement park where Al Capone stowed some loot and must navigate a series of antagonists.

Chris Parrish says his son had "a phenomenal gift for story and plot and conflict."

The elder Parrish had a 20-year career working on movies in Hollywood.
