Elgin Woman's Club plans spring luncheon

The Elgin Woman's Club will hold its annual spring luncheon, "A Spring Fling," at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 7, at Villa Olivia Country Club, Route 20 and Naperville Road, Bartlett.

Club president Pat Gering, along with committee chairs, will serve as hostesses for May. They have engaged Kym Frankovelgia, who will perform a variety of musical selections for the meeting.

Frankovelgia, who began her career in nightclubs and on cruise ships, has now dedicated all of her energy to entertaining seniors, private parties, social clubs and organizations. Her love of music of a bygone era includes renditions of many favorites. She has entertained with some of the finest orchestras in the country, including the Sammy Kaye Orchestra, Glenn Miller Band, Tommy Dorsey and Jimmy Dorsey Orchestras, Maxine Andrews, Connie Haines, the Ink Spots, and the Four Lads.

For information about the May program or to make reservations, call the club hotline at (847) 622-3614. Cost for the luncheon meeting and program is $20 and can be paid for the day of the meeting.

Since it was founded in 1887, the club has supported hundreds of local projects including yearly scholarships to students from area high schools and their major accomplishment - the founding of Sherman Hospital in 1888. In addition, members serve as volunteers in hospitals and other agencies throughout the Elgin area and are active in recycling, conservation, women's health, international affairs and other projects.
