North Central jazz faculty to perform

North Central College jazz faculty members Jack Mouse and Kelly Sill will perform "The Revenge of the Rhythm Section" Feb. 5, 2016, at the college.

The concert begins at 8 p.m. in the Madden Theatre at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave., Naperville. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and senior citizens; call the North Central College Box Office at (630) 637-7469 or visit northcentralcollege.edu/showtix.

Joining Mouse on drums and Sill on bass are vibraphonist Brad Stirtz and pianist Chris White. The concert repertoire will feature jazz standards and original compositions

Mouse is coordinator of jazz studies at North Central and a staff artist/clinician for Yamaha Drums, Sabian Cymbals, Aquarian Drum Heads and Vic Firth Drum Sticks. He received an Aquarian Award of Achievement in 2012, presented by Aquarian Drumheads in acknowledgment of his contributions as a jazz educator and performer.

Mouse was a featured soloist with the U.S. Air Force Academy official jazz ensemble Falconaires. Since then, he has performed with an array of outstanding jazz artists, including Stan Kenton, Clark Terry, Herb Ellis, Joe Williams, the Dan Haerle Trio and many others.

For more than 35 years, Sill has been Chicago's first-call jazz bassist and has performed in concert throughout the world with a host of jazz artists. They include Hank Jones, Woody Shaw, Dave Liebman, Eddie Jefferson, Cedar Walton, Red Rodney, Eddie Harris, Johnny Hartman, Tommy Flanagan, Janice Borla and others.

As an instructor, Sill is one of the newest members of North Central's acclaimed jazz faculty and has served on the faculties of several other colleges and universities.
