Sunny debut for Fremd in Arizona

After making its first plane trip in school history on Wednesday, Fremd's basketball team was flying high on the court on Thursday.

Led by senior Haley Gorecki's 25 points, the Vikings posted a 48-29 victory over ThunderRidge (Colo.) in the round of opening round of the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix, Ariz.

ThunderRidge is the No. 1-ranked team in Colorado.

Junior Bryana Hopkins added 9 points and classmate Brianna Lewis chipped in 8 as the Vikings To 11-1.

They will face Bishop Academy (Ca.) at 12:20 p.m. (Chicago time) today in the quarterfinals.
