Lincolnshire to vote on unions

The Lincolnshire village board Monday could approve a controversial plan promoted by Gov. Bruce Rauner that would establish the town as a right-to-work zone. Criticized as an anti-union measure, the proposal would give workers the right to refuse to have union dues automatically deducted from their paychecks. Critics, including Attorney General Lisa Madigan, say right-to-work zones created at the municipal or county level are illegal in Illinois. Lincolnshire would be the first town in the Chicago area to create such a zone. Lincolnshire's board meeting is set for 7 p.m. at village hall, 1 Olde Half Day Road.
