Hersey wins second straight at Pekin

Hersey finished play in the Pekin tournament with a second straight win, topping Mt. Carmel 47-37 on Wednesday afternoon to wrap up a fifth-place consolation finish.

Joe Coffaro made three 3s and finished with a game-high 15 points for Hersey (7-6). Max Heeren contributed 9 points and team-best 3 assists, and Payton Haas had 6 points and a team-high 5 rebounds.

The Huskies limited Mt. Carmel to 13-for-40 shooting from the field, which included 3-for-17 from 3-point range.

Hersey, meanwhile, shot 18-for-42 from the field.

Next up for the Huskies is a nonconference game Tuesday, when Hersey will host Libertyville.
