Carmel Catholic's boys basketball team used a pair of dramatic rallies late in regulation and in the first overtime to pull out a 71-66 double-overtime victory over Prairie Ridge in the consolation bracket of the Hinkle Holiday Classic on Friday night at Jacobs.
C.J. Duff (season-high 32 points) beat the first overtime buzzer with his fifth 3-pointer from the left wing to tie it at 61-61. The Corsairs (5-6) never trailed in the second overtime as Nate Reid (19 points) hit a 3 and got a 3-point play off a feed by Shareif Bailey with 2:10 left.
Prairie Ridge got within 67-66 but Duff and Bailey combined to hit 4 of 6 free throws in the final 1:04 to put Carmel in today's 4:30 p.m. Consolation A championship game against Cary-Grove.

Vernon Hills 49, Glenbrook South 48: At Wheeling, the Cougars overcame a 38-35 deficit after three quarters to advance to the consolation championship game.
Cory Levin led Vernon Hills (10-2, 2-1 tourney) with 14 points, while Lem Turner added 12 points and 8 rebounds. Robby Nardini had 9 points for the Cougars, who play Waukegan at 5:30 p.m. today.
Belvidere North 57, Mundelein 41: At DeKalb, Tyler Olson scored 18 points for the Mustangs, who fell behind 19-5 after one quarter and trailed 31-9 at halftime.
Huntley 60, Grant 52 At Jacobs, Alec Montagno and Jason Kaye each scored 16 points for the Bulldogs (0-11, 0-4 tournament). Mikel Graves had 14 points, including three 3-pointers.
