Antioch stays hot from 3-point range

For the second game in a row, Antioch's girls basketball team put on a three-point shooting clinic.

The Sequoits sank a school-record 14 shots from behind the arc and beat visiting Lakes 63-40 in North Suburban Prairie Division action Saturday.

Antioch improved to 9-0 and 3-0 in the NSC Prairie. Lakes (4-4, 2-1) had its three-game winning streak snapped.

Ashley Reiser led all scorers with 15 points, sinking five 3-pointers. She dished out 12 assists, as well, for another double-double. Erika Gallimore and Amy Reiser added 11 and 10 points, respectively. Gallimore sank a pair of 3s, as did Alexis Duehr (6 points), who also picked up a team-high 8 rebounds. Amy Reiser, Olivia Ori, Kelly Johnson, Megan Kelly and Ashley Cunningham also made 3-pointers for Antioch.

Lakes was led in scoring by Natalie Iacopetti with 13 points. Izzy Quaranta pulled down 13 rebounds and scored 5 points for the Eagles.

Grant 64, East Aurora 44: Jasmine Sangster poured in 29 points, as the visiting Bulldogs cruised to the nonconference win.

Sangster sank 11 shots, including a 3-pointer, and went 6 of 9 from the foul line. Grant also received 11 points apiece from freshman Ally Mahinay and Taylor Drake.

Kenwood 57, Libertyville 53: At Fremd, the Wildcats lost the Chicagoland Invitational Showcase game, despite Claire Keefe's 23 points.

Caroline Frea added 15 points for Libertyville.

The Bulldogs led 34-30 at halftime and then outscored the hosts 22-4 in the third quarter.

Maine West 37, Lake Zurich 27: Rachel Kuehr scored 10 points for the host Bears in their nonconference loss.

McKenna Zobel added 8 points for Lake Zurich (3-4), which trailed 17-14 at halftime and 27-20 after three quarters.

Wauconda 40, North Chicago 34: On Friday night, Corrina Vaughan had 11 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals, as the host Bulldogs won their North Suburban Prairie opener.

Katie Rossetti's racked up 7 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks and 2 steals for Wauconda (5-0). Hayley Redmann chipped in 7 points, and freshman Allie Tylka had 4 points and 6 rebounds.
