Muncie man faces charges alleging that he bilked mortuary
MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) - A central Indiana man face charges alleging that he obtained a funeral home's bank account information during a relative's funeral and began using it to ring up personal expenses.
Forty-year-old Raymond Eric Sailers of Muncie was arrested last week and charged with fraud on a financial institution.
A probable cause affidavit states that an accountant for Parson Mortuary noticed several "out of place" charges ranging from $520 to $1.80 drawn on the funeral home's bank account.
Some of those charges went for cable TV and utility bills for Sailers' home.
The Star Press reports (http://tspne.ws/1sLESPm ) that Sailers has allegedly told officers he obtained the necessary banking information during a relative's recent funeral.
He remained jailed Sunday at the Delaware County jail on a $5,000 bond.
