Portions of Route 59 closed in Aurora due to accident

Northbound Route 59 is closed from Route 34 to Audrey Avenue in Aurora due to an accident with injuries, authorities said.

Southbound lanes have been reduced to one lane, officials said in a news release early Wednesday.

Officials said the crash is an accident involving a driver that was under the influence. ComEd is on the scene to repair power lines in the area, officials said.

It's unknown how long the roadway will be shut down. Motorists are urged to seek alternate routes.
