Report: NIU official had worker clean boss's home
A state investigation has determined a former Northern Illinois University official required an employee to clean the house of the official's boss.
In a news release Friday, the Office of the Executive Inspector General says it recommended NIU's Convocation Center Director of Operations Tom Folowell be disciplined for requiring an employee to serve as a "personal maid" at Convocation Center Director John Gordon's home during regular work hours. Documents included in the report show NIU suspended Folowell without pay for seven days for violating school policy.
The report says Folowell acknowledged he'd had the employee clean the house a few times in 2011 and 2012.
Gordon resigned in 2012 amid misconduct allegations and a recorded voice at the convocation center said Friday that Folowell has retired.
