Burlington Central's Niesel 14th at state golf

Class 2A: Burlington Central senior Austin Niesel shot a 76 on Saturday at Weibring Golf Course in Normal to finish tied for 14th place in Class 2A with a two-day total of 154. Rockets' sophomore Joe Sherman also had a 78 and tied for 55th place with a 164. St. Edward junior Michael Mattas shot a 1-over 73 on Saturday and finished with a 157, good for a 25th place tie. Morton freshman Tommy Kuhl won the meet with a 142.

Class 3A: Jacobs junior Justin Lenzini shot a 76 on Saturday at The Den at Fox Creek in Bloomington to finish with a two-day total of 154 and a 26th place tie in the Class 3A state tournament. Huntley senior Trent Craig had a 79 for a two-day 161 and a 58th place tie.
