Firing 'messenger' was wrong approach

With Mundelein's Mayor Lentz and the village board firing longtime volunteer Plan Commissioner Ray Ladewig, I have to wonder if the paint fumes in the newly constructed village hall are impacting the village's decision making or if they're just simply out of touch and delusional.

It's obvious to anyone living in or driving through Mundelein that there are economic development issues in town. There is more empty square footage in town than I believe ever before. Neighboring towns are growing, and we're left in the dust.

The mayor keeps saying things are coming soon. Soon doesn't pay the bills. Soon doesn't drive people to live or shop in our town. Soon isn't a result that gets rewarded.

Instead of shooting the messenger, perhaps the village should hold accountable those paid to bring economic development to town.

Open the windows at village hall. Perhaps that will help us residents figure out the cause of your madness.
