A chamber concert at Mayslake Peabody Estate promises to take the audience around the world.
Picosa chamber ensemble's "Interconnected: Music from Around the Globe" begins at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at Mayslake, 1717 W. 31st St., Oak Brook.
The chamber ensemble for flute, clarinet, violin, cello and piano will perform works by Spanish composers Enrique Granados and Joaquin Turina; Cambodian-American composer Chinary Ung; Polish composer Kzrysztof Penderecki; and American composer Fred Onovewerosuoke.
The concert also will mark the world premiere of "Hospital Suite" by Mexican composer and sound artist Felipe Santiago Perez, and a piece for flute and electronics by composer-in-residence Jonathon Kirk based on Korean folk music.
The program will close with Austrian composer Arnold Schoenberg's "Kammersymphonie Opus 9, No. 1."
"Mayslake concerts provide DuPage County residents with an opportunity to experience fine music from around the world close to home," said Forest Preserve District Commissioner Jeff Redick, District 2.
The concert is for ages 12 and older, but adults must accompany children younger than 18. Tickets are $25 for adults; $23 for seniors; $10 for college students; and free for high school students and younger. Each attendee will receive $5 off a full-priced ticket with a donation to Hesed House, an Aurora homeless shelter.
