Union Station blood drive to mark 100 years
CHICAGO (AP) - The American Red Cross is planning a blood drive at Union Station in Chicago to celebrate 100 years of serving area residents.
Blood collected on Jan. 21 in the Chicago train station's Great Hall will help ensure cancer patients, trauma victims, surgery patients and others have the blood products they need.
Red Cross officials say winter weather and illness can reduce the number of blood donations at this time of year. Donors of all blood types are needed - particularly O negative, A negative and B negative.
People who come to donate will receive a commemorative Red Cross 100th anniversary T-shirt and gift bag while supplies last.
