Boys soccer: Fox Valley roundup Tuesday, Aug. 25

Streamwood 4, East Aurora 0: The reigning Class 3A fourth-place finishers began their season with a convincing shutout of the Tomcats in Upstate Eight crossover play. Edwin Rueda and Armondo Sanchez tallied 1 goal and 1 assist each while Aldo Lazar and Donnie Sosa each scored goals. Alex Herrera had 1 assist and Daniel Dominguez made 3 saves in net for the Sabres (1-0).

Elgin 9, Harlem 0: The Maroons (1-0) completely destroyed their counterparts from Rockford in their nonconference road opener. Pedro Hernandez flushed a hat trick while John Ramirez had 2 goal and 3 assists, and Danny Geary, Tony Rodriguez, Daniel Zavala and Juan Aguilar netted goals. Omar Gonzalez, Jesus Lopez and Julian Garfias each had 1 assist and Edgar Rodriguez posed 3 saves for the shutout.

Dundee-Crown 3, Lake Forest 1: Julian Ajroja scored his fifth goal in 2 days for the Chargers (2-0), 2 coming against Scouts in a Lake Forest Tournament win. Gerardo Estrada added a goal and Andrew Janikowski, Jelani Washington and Freddy Martinez all had assists. Keeper Luiz Cruz made 8 saves.

Harvest Christian 5, St. Edward 4: In a wild one between crosstown rivals, the Green Wave (0-1) watched a 4-2 lead evaporate in the second half on headers from Zach Floyd and Basilio Salazar, and Raphael DeSouza's hat trick with 2 minutes left capped off the comeback win for the Lions (1-0). AJ Franklin had all 4 goals for St. Edward, who also saw Alex Semler notch 2 assists and Peter Cholewa make 6 saves. DeSouza, Salazar, Sergio Velasquez and Antonio Nevarez each garnered 1 assist and Matthew Baron made 4 saves for Harvest.

Westminster Christian 4, Kirkland 1: Will Kmeciak scored twice and Lee Grasemann picked up a goal and an assist in the Warriors' nonconference win. Hunter King scored 1 goal and keeper Logan Harbaugh totaled 2 saves.

Leyden 5, Larkin 2: The Royals (0-1) received goals from Randy Rodriguez and Ricky Nava, but came up short at the Leyden Cup. Abel Saenz and Brian Hurtado coined assists and goalie Eleno Montes amassed 6 saves.
