Waukegan man charged in fatal stabbing
A Waukegan man was charged in the death of another man after a fight outside their home Saturday morning, police said.
Police were called to the home on the 600 block of North Lewis Avenue for an unknown problem, Waukegan officials said in a release.
Officers arrived to find two men with stab wounds. One man, Manuel Alaniz, 40, who lived at the home, was later pronounced dead at Vista East Hospital.
Officers arrested Juan Guajardo, 39, and charged him with one count of involuntary manslaughter and one count of aggravated battery.
The second man was injured as he attempted to intervene during the fight, police said. He was taken to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries and later released.
Guajardo was taken to Lake County jail and issued a $250,000 bond. He appears in court again July 29.
