'Fantastic' Last Fling weekend concludes in Naperville
It was a "fantastic" and "flawless" Labor Day weekend at the Last Fling in Naperville, at least as far as Family Fun Land is concerned.
Mary Cooke-Hall, chairwoman for Family Fun Land at Naper Settlement, said the kid-friendly zone drew roughly 15,000 visitors throughout the four-day festival.
A meet-and-greet on Sunday with Disney actress Dove Cameron attracted 1,000 people, and hundreds more attended a "Frozen" movie singalong Monday afternoon under fair skies.
"The rain held at bay," Cooke-Hall said. "We were really worried about that for Saturday and Monday, but it turned out to be just beautiful."
Elsewhere at the festival, visitors listened to concerts, whirled around on carnival rides and watched a rainy parade.
The festival, organized by Naperville Jaycees, raises money for Naperville-area charities as it offers a final celebration of summer. Organizers will tally proceeds from concert tickets, food, beverage sales and carnival rides in the coming months before knowing the total they can donate, Cooke-Hall said.
