Lindenfest parade features 'The Great Outdoors' theme
Featuring a "The Great Outdoors" theme and grand marshal Dean Parkman, the Lindenfest parade stepped off Saturday.
Parkman, who is retiring as president of the Lindenhurst Park District board after 23 years of service, led the parade that featured more than 70 entries.
The parade headed south on Beck Road to the festival grounds on Sand Lake Road. In the parade were the newly crowned festival queens, the Lakes High School marching band and the Lake Villa Township caboose with volunteers collecting canned goods along the route to benefit the Lake Villa Township food pantry.
The annual Lindenhurst festival continues Sunday. It features a battle of the bands contest that begins at noon with 12 acts. Youth bingo, adult bingo and face painting are scheduled, too. The carnival will run from 1 to 5 p.m. on the final day.
