Boys soccer: Fox Valley roundup Thursday, Sept. 18

Dundee-Crown 2, Grayslake Central 0: The Chargers improved to 9-2 overall with a Fox Valley Conference crossover win over the Rams. Freddy Martinez led the way by scoring both D-C goals in each half while Willie Campos provided the lone assist. Jose Gonzalez earned the shutout with 4 saves.

Burlington Central 1, Johnsburg 0: The Rockets (7-1-2, 5-10) posted their fifth shutout of the season as Ryan Fitzgerald made 5 saves in a Big Northern East win. Chris Leberecht scored the game's only goal in the first half off a Stefan Jochum pass.

Cary-Grove 6, Woodstock North 1: It was a hat trick for midfielder Esteban Angeles that helped the Trojans (8-1) to an FVC crossover win. Luis Lemus, Nate Webber, John O'Brien were C-G's other goal scorers while Ethan Csoka and Eric Fisher (2 saves) stymied the Thunder at the net.

CL South 9, Woodstock 0: The Gators (7-2-1) completely gobbled up the Blue Streaks in FVC crossover action behind sophomore forward Andrew Grabowski's hat trick. Charlie Ruff, Andrew Perrine and Julio Campos each punched across 1 goal and 1 assist while Orlando Tapia, Nikolas Getzinger and Stefan Harris registered 1 goal each. Benjamin Nyman totaled 2 assists and Zach Schmidt and Ryan Russman had 1 apiece. Dalton Krause (1 save) and Spencer Traub combined for the shutout in goal.

Streamwood 3, Wheaton Warrenville South 1: In the PepsiCo Showdown, Alan Camarena, Marcos Rojo and Blerim Shoboni helped the Sabres (6-3-1) get the win with goals each. Camarena, Mike Delaney and Jair Zuniga each had assists while Sergio Blanco stopped 3 shots. South Elgin 4, Oswego East 0: A big first half from 4 different goal scorers gave the Storm (3-2-2) a nonconference win. Alex Rivera, Ricky Valdivia, Joseph Boghossain and Issac Perez all manufactured goals while Sergio Pedroza, Krisoph Mikhail and Jimmy Kelleher garnered 1 assist each. Colton Wenig (2 saves) and Juan Garcia (4 saves) split time in goal for the shutout.

St. Viator 1, Larkin 0: Depsite the positive play from the Royals (2-6-2), a first half Lions goal which trickled in off a throw-in settled matters in a PepsiCo Showdown matchup. Leo Perez made 5 saves in goal for Larkin.
