Barrington Relay For Life to hold kickoff Jan. 13
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Barrington will host a kickoff event from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, at Francesca's Famiglia, 100 Station St., in Barrington.
The kickoff will honor cancer survivors and caregivers, and event team leaders will share plans, a meal and refreshments. Those interested will also be able to register to participate for the six-hour event to be held on Friday, June 10, beginning at 5 p.m. at Barrington High School. Local businesses are invited to make in-kind donations or sign up to become an event sponsor. All area schools are encouraged to organize teams and register.
The world's largest grass-roots fundraising movement, Relay For Life mobilizes communities throughout the country to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost and provide participants with an opportunity to fight back against cancer.
This will be the 19th annual Relay For Life of Barrington, which has raised more than $4.5 million in funds to support the mission of the American Cancer Society to save lives by helping people stay well, by helping people get well, by finding cures, and fighting back.
