Des Plaines preschool has new leadership, fall openings

First Congregational Preschool, which has served Des Plaines area families since 1944, has named a new director and assistant director following the retirement of longtime director Sarah McConnell.

Nancy Quam, the preschool's former assistant director, will serve as director, assisted by Kim Wendtland. Quam has taught at First Congregational Preschool since 1996, and has served as assistant director for 10 years. Wendtland has taught at the preschool for 13 years.

Quam and her husband, Dave, are the parents of five children and have resided in Des Plaines for 35 years. Wendtland and her husband, Steve, have four children and have lived in Des Plaines for 22 years.

First Congregational Preschool enrolls children ages 3-5 in morning, afternoon and full-day classes and has a staff of 13. A few openings remain for the 2015-2016 school year, which begins Thursday, Sept. 3.

The preschool is located at 766 Graceland Ave., Des Plaines.
