Cougars begin second season with Cubs affiliation
Chilly. Windy. Generally un-springlike. Must be time for baseball in the suburbs.
With opening day just a couple of days away, the Kane County Cougars met the media and had a light workout on the field Tuesday at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark in Geneva.
The season starts for the Cougars on the road Thursday in Davenport, Iowa, against the Quad City Bandits. The home opener is 6:30 p.m. April 8 against the Fort Wayne TinCaps.
"We're extremely excited about the upcoming season, our second with the Cubs," Cougars Director of Public Relations Shaun Touney said. "I think everyone is anxious after this cold and long winter to have some fun with us."
The Cougars begin their 24th season, and former White Sox player Mark Johnson returns for a second season as manager.
