Vacant Lake Zurich parking ready for Christmas tree sales
More than 300 Christmas trees, some weighing as much as 150 pounds, arrived Wednesday from Pembine, Wisconsin, at the empty, former KMart parking lot on Rand Road in Lake Zurich.
Workers from the Paul Bunyan Tree Farm, about 28 miles from Iron Mountain, in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, arrived early to unload their yearly flatbed truckload of trees.
The job would take more than three hours to complete.
"We're here for the long haul 'til Christmas," said Dan Johnson, one of four men in charge of delivering their green bounty from the north, as they set up shop for this year's Christmas tree sales.
