Luxury residences not well thought out
Why in the world is the Village of Wheeling allowing the construction of "luxury residences" on Northgate Parkway near Dundee Road? What will luxury living at Northgate Crossing offer its residents?
Well, there's the almost constant stream of commuter and freight trains literally at their back doors. Oh, but the trains don't sound their horns any more at Dundee Road; that certainly must render them ghostly silent.
And let's not forget that during afternoon rush hour Northgate Parkway is a veritable parking lot sometimes all the way to Lake/Cook Road, but I assume adding 288 new residences won't further complicate traffic.
Supposedly, residents of Northgate Crossing will be within walking distance to dining and entertainment which has been in the town center concept stage since 2009. Unless, of course, you count video gambling at Market Square.
Have the powers-that-be in Wheeling forgotten so quickly the debacle called Prairie Park?
