Suicide prevention walk scheduled for Sept. 7

The Lake County Suicide Prevention Task Force will host the seveth annual Walk for Suicide Awareness and Prevention from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at Hastings Lake Forest Preserve nearn Lake Villa. The event also will feature speakers, including an expert on bereavement after suicide, resource tables, support for those grieving, silent auction and a memory wall if you would like to share the name of a loved one lost. The task force was formed in Waukegan to support families affected by a series of police suicides. The group has grown as a nonprofit organization that works to prevent suicide and promote mental health awareness in Lake County through outreach events, professional training and community education.
