Lake Forest's Gaughan a sectional medalist

Lake Forest sectional: At Lake Bluff Golf Club, Lake Forest (293) edged Barrington (299) for the championship to earn a berth in this weekend's Class 3A state meet as the tournament which began Monday was completed Tuesday.

St. Charles East (306) and Stevenson (306) tied for third place, but St. Charles East won the tiebreaker to capture the final state berth. Mundelein (323) finished 11th.

Lake Forest senior Quinn Gaughan was the medalist with a 2-under-par 70. The Scouts also counted the rounds of Mac Montague (73), Elliot Georges (74) and Jack Garrity (76). Barrington was led by Timothy Lee (72), Burke Barsamian (75), Joey Batliner (76) and Kevin Altenberger (76).

Advancing to state for Stevenson were sophomore Kamaren Sandhu (74) and senior Jason Gohde (75). Mundelein did not get an individual through.

Ethan Farnam led Prairie Ridge with a state-qualifying round of 72. Other individual qualifiers included Justin Lenzini of Jacobs (75) and Trent Craigh of Huntley (75).
