Choice of words suggests latent bigotry

Recently, the Daily Herald 's top headline/story began: "....Chicago-area Jewish leaders and Palestinian activists..." As always, I ask, why can't it ever once be written as "Jewish activists and/or Palestinian leaders"? This is 100% latent bigotry right there.

It is constant and is also detrimental to the valid and factual points the author makes. If this is still the AP handbook style, then you are living in a long past, bigoted society. It was called the '80s. Shame to the editors; it's getting embarrassing to be white in Arlington Heights. And on Indigenous People's Day of all Days!

FYI, I am of 100% European descent, a large portion of which is Italian. Just hearing the term Columbus Day brings outrage toward my own community and our collective ignorance. Obvious Example: we will never, ever have a Mussolini Celebration Day, correct?

We can overcome this. Problem: Ignorance. Ignorance breeds fear and fear breeds hatred. Hatred breeds Racism. Solution = Education, as there is always unity in diversity.
