Thiago hurts right knee, to miss Spain's match vs. Belgium

MADRID (AP) - Spain says Thiago Alcantara will miss its friendly match at Belgium after hurting his injury-prone right knee during a 2-0 win over England on Friday.

Spain says the midfielder has returned to his club - Bayern Munich - after tests revealed swelling in the knee.

The 24-year-old former Barcelona standout has twice required surgery to repair injured right-knee ligaments.

Thiago was replaced by Santi Cazorla in the 25th minute of Spain's friendly against England.

Spain visits Belgium on Tuesday as it continues its preparation to defend its title at the 2016 European Championship.
