Carmel wins home opener

Ranya Jamison scored 14 points, Katie Lach added 9, and host Carmel Catholic won its home opener by beating Wauconda 48-33 Wednesday to improve to 4-3 on the season.

Allie Tylka had 14 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals for Wauconda (3-2) in the nonconference game.

"It was a tough night for us," Bulldogs coach Jaime Dennis said. "It is hard to win a game with 23 turnovers. We would make a defensive stop and end up giving it right back to them. We can be a much better team than what we showed tonight. We have to learn from it and move on."
