Lane closures planned along South Riverside Ave. during work on St. Charles lift station

Southbound lane of Route 25 to close 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 19 to March 21, 2024

The southbound lane of South Riverside Avenue/Route 25 will be closed 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19 to March 21, 2024, to accommodate work on the city of St. Charles Riverside Lift Station replacement project. Contractors will be demolishing the old lift station on the west side of Riverside Avenue.

In addition to the lane closure, these areas will be impacted:

• The bike path will be detoured to the east side of Riverside Avenue/Route 25;

• Public access to the area around the existing lift station will be closed;

• Devereaux Way is closed to all traffic; please use the South Seventh Ave. entrance to Public Works.

The city is replacing the lift station on Riverside Avenue (Route 25) near Langum Park. A lift station is a pumping station that moves wastewater from a lower elevation to a higher elevation.

The $14.8M project includes removing the existing lift station and constructing a new station. The new lift station will include a new dual wet well concrete structure, with a capacity of 35 million gallons per day.

Vehicle access to the station, as well as public areas around the lift station, will be improved. The lift station will be integrated into the existing Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.

A new emergency, backup generator, as well as a new odor control system also will be installed.

More information about the project is available on www.stcharlesil.gov/projects/riverside-lift-station-replacement-project.
