Briefs: Letter sparks powder scare

Sgt. Mike Doty said police and fire crews responded to the apartment at about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday after a man opened a credit card application and white powder spilled out. Fire department tests determined the powder was 98 percent cornstarch and investigators where checking with the credit card firm about the powder's origins. Doty said the powder did not present a danger and authorities consider it an isolated incident.
