Thanks for help on holiday house walk

On behalf of the Northeast Neighborhood Association (NENA), and the "Homes for the Holidays" house walk committee, we would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who contributed to making our sixth annual "Homes for the Holidays" House Tour on Dec. 1 a resounding success.

Even though we had to deal with the advent of Old Man Winter, who chose that day to make his grand entrance into our area, we still had an amazing turnout.

A lot of time and effort went into making the homes on our tour spectacular and we would like to thank our homeowners: Chris Danzi; Gordon and Kathy Richards; Bill and Marilyn Cogley; Doug and Mavis Erickson; Ruth and Bill Ristow; and Jim Sosnoski and Patricia Harkin.

If you did not get a chance to come to the house walk this year, you missed entering some of the most unique homes in Elgin and viewing them in all their holiday finery. It was a treat for all. Thanks also to our hard working house captains: Hollis Mack, Saul Vazquez, Jana Frohlic, Jean Bednar, Doug Watkins and Pat Segel.

We would like to thank Sherman Hospital, the Elgin Heritage Commission and Provena St. Joseph Hospital for their generous support in sponsoring our event.

Joy Jensen and the gracious staff at Sherman Hospital were kind enough to host registration this year. Thanks to Elda Surridge for providing a warming house for our guests. Thanks also to musician Johnny Vargas for providing a musical holiday touch to registration, to program designer Dave Metzger for creating a beautiful and professional tour booklet, and to our loyal advertisers.

Our deepest appreciation is also extended to our dedicated, hard-working organizing committee who put in many hours making our house walk special.

It takes a tremendous amount of commitment from a lot of people to organize an event like this and once again, thanks to all.
