Lincolnshire lands another big one

Another major corporation intends to set up shop in Lincolnshire.

Walgreen Co. is expected to move into some or all of a five-story office building that had been occupied by Hewitt Associates at Two Overlook Point in Lincolnshire Corporate Center, near Milwaukee Avenue and Aptakisic Road.

Carol Hively, a spokeswoman for Deerfield-based Walgreen, said the company plans to have operations in the Lincolnshire building in April.

"We have not made an announcement on this yet," Hively said Thursday, "so at this time we're not saying how many employees will go there, which department or other specifics."

Hewitt spokeswoman Amy Wulfestieg said the company isn't getting enough use from the Two Overlook Point building, which is driving the desire to sublease it to Walgreen. She said Hewitt plans to consolidate facilities and exit certain properties as part of a corporate strategy.

Two Overlook Point is just north of the busy Lincolnshire Commons mall. Fortune Brands Inc. and W.W. Grainger Inc. are among the businesses that Walgreen will join in the Lincolnshire Corporate Center. Hewitt's sprawling corporate headquarters is east of the business park on Route 22 near the Tri-State Tollway.

Lincolnshire's community development director, Stephen McNellis, said Walgreen will be a meaningful addition to the village's business roster.

"There's a certain cachet to having these Fortune 500 companies in the community," McNellis said.

Lincolnshire has about 7,000 residents. McNellis said research shows the businesses create a daytime population of 25,000 to 30,000.
