Injured jockey's condition improving
The condition of jockey Lyndie Wade, injured in an ugly spill during Friday's third race at Hawthorne Race Course, appears to be improving, his agent, Jay Fedor, said Saturday morning.
The 16-year-old from Louisiana spent the night at Loyola Hospital in Maywood, where he was recovering from a collapsed lung, some broken ribs and slight bleeding on the brain.
"He had a good night. A second CT scan was done and there's a very slight amount of blood still on the brain," Fedor said. "It may turn out to be just a severe concussion.
"We're going to keep him sedated today and monitor him closely. He will be rechecked head to toe for additional injuries.
"The prognosis is very good."
