Family Book Discussion: Youth Services Librarian Sara McLaughlin will lead a discussion of "Project Mulberry," by Linda Sue Park at 7 p.m. today for families of children in fourth grade and older. The book is a 2007 Suburban Mosaic book selection. Suburban Mosaic is a Northwest suburban community reading program that seeks to foster cultural understanding through literature. Books are available one month prior at the Youth Services Desk. (R-YS)

Medicare Part D Updates: Representatives from Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Illinois will talk about new 2008 changes to Medicare Part D from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday. 11. They will discuss eligibility, cost, formulary, coverage gap, true out of pocket expenses regardless of your Part D provider, and offer other resources. (R)

Meet with State Senator Kotowski's Representative: District Director Janie Morrison from State Senator Dan Kotowski's office will answer questions privately about state services and benefits from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday in a third-floor study room. No appointments are required.

One-on-One Career Counseling: Edie Kleinman, a licensed career counselor from Jewish Vocational Service, will provide 30-minute one-on-one assistance with interviewing, resume writing and other aspects of the job search process from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in a fourth floor study room. Appointments are required. Sign up at the Registration Desk. A waiting list will be kept. (R)

The World of Tea--Lecture and Tea Tasting: Join Sofia Motamedi of GalaTea at 7 p.m. Thursday for a program featuring all aspects of tea's preparation, enjoyment and benefits. Enjoy samples of various teas. (R)

Thursday Evening Book Discussion: Acting Head of Adult Services Roberta Johnson will lead a discussion of "Not Buying It: My Year Without Shopping," by Judith Levine at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Books are available one month prior at the Readers' Services Desk. (R-RS)

Drop-In Craft: The library will offer a drop-in craft from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, to celebrate the holidays. The library will provide craft materials.

Jingle Bell Express: Come and sing along to a holiday musical revue at 2 p.m. Sunday. Enjoy all your favorite holiday songs from "Carol of the Bells" through "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" and "The Grinch."

Teen Advisory Board: The Teen Advisory Board will meet at 4 p.m. Dec. 17. Teens are invited to suggest books, movies and music and plan library programs they want. Snacks will be provided.

Meet with Congresswoman Schakowsky's Representative: Ann Limjoco from Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky's office will meet with individuals privately to answer questions about immigration, visas, Social Security, Medicare, veterans' benefits and other federal services from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 19 in a third floor study room. Library Board Meeting: The Library Board of Trustees will meet at 7 p.m. Dec. 18. The public is invited to attend.

Art Exhibit -- Des Plaines Art Guild: The Des Plaines Art Guild will feature a group show in the third floor magazine reading area throughout the month of December.

Library Closings: The library will be closed on Dec. 24 and 25 for the Christmas holiday and Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 for the New Year's holiday.

Drop-In Storytimes: Storytimes for children ages 3-5 will be held from 10 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and 2 to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. Storytimes for two-year-olds will be held from 10:45 to 11:05 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays through this Thursday.

Ongoing Book Sale: Friends of the Library sponsor an ongoing book sale on the first floor of the library during regular library hours.
