If you obey laws, you are welcome

Welcome the immigrant. (Reply to Nov 17 article - immigrants don't feel welcomed) All legal immigrants should feel welcomed that abide the basic laws of this country.

In Waukegan and elsewhere, businesses can thrive, people can walk the streets, and communities can prosper.

Good citizens should find comfort in the idea that we do have some level of enforcement that can apprehend and process law breakers and most notably the felons.

It's a well known fact that ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) is extremely burdened trying to keep up with the influx of illegal aliens entering this country from all parts of the globe.

A sheriff from Lima, Ohio stated at a recent conference in McHenry County that he does most of the paperwork for ICE to ease the process. Government working together and citizens supporting the process make a safer community for everyone.

The suggestion that such enforcement could lead to racial profiling is subjective and actually brings unnecessary attention to a given race.

Local enforcement in this day and age is frequently under severe scrutiny and trained to the sensitivities and issues of racial profiling.

Felons of any race are a danger to the community when they are promoting drugs, theft and many forms of violent behavior. Good hardworking temporary workers, immigrants that have proper documentation, or actual citizens of this country have nothing to fear unless they are trying to protect someone or something that is illegal.
