Advice for School Dist. 203 taxpayers

This is an interactive letter-to-the-editor. If you're a District 203 taxpayer, your participation is warmly requested.

First, please go into your tax records and pull out your 2001 property tax bill. Next, pull out your 2007 property tax bill. Now, sit down and compare the two tax bills. At this point there is a very good chance you're experiencing slight heart palpitations, so stand up and walk around a bit. It may help if you rub your eyes and pinch yourself a couple of times.

Now comes the final exercise. Contemplation. Seven out of 10 taxpayers will be asking two questions: 1) Where in the world has all the money gone, and 2) Why is District 203 asking for even more money again in 2008?

The usual suspects supporting District 203's second referendum in six short years are all in lockstep with their mantra "it's only $82."

It's not about $82. It's about fiscal mismanagement. It's about skyrocketing property taxes. It's about accountability. It's about a school district that continues to treat the taxpayer like an ATM!
