Remember warriors this holiday season
As we get closer to the holidays and get focused on the excitement and smiles of young children, let's take a moment to reflect on those who provide us with such security in America.
They are the young men and women that wear the uniform of the United States who stand at the ready, always able and willing to do what is necessary so we and our children can enjoy these holidays.
As we put together toys on Christmas Eve, let's think of the 18-year-old warrior who lies dying in a hospital from wounds, or the one who patrols in areas of the world where people strive to take his life, or the one who doesn't go to sleep so he can hold and feed a starving child in a foreign country.
As we enjoy our holiday feast, let's not forget the young warrior who longs to be with his family while he eats an MRE in the field. Let's remember the Marines who will give millions of toys to children this Christmas through Toys for Tots.
Let's remember the soldiers and sailors who are rebuilding towns devastated by war and those who are protecting so many foreign innocent children overseas.
More than 30 Huntley High School graduates currently serve on active duty in the United States Armed Forces and are stationed around the world. Let's remember their families over the holidays as their children face outward, at the pointy end of the spear, to defend the greatest nation in the world. Merry Christmas!
