There's still a few bugs in the system

To the editor: I found it humorous that District 214's spokeswoman, Venetia Miles, stated people should not rely on the district's automated phone service but instead on the media or the district's Web site.

Rather than listen to a radio station and hope I heard the appropriate information, I immediately checked the Web site in the morning.

When I checked, just before 6 a.m., it reported back in big bold print that "All schools are open."

Needless to say, my student who was expected to be at school early for a school-related activity arrived two hours early.

I think that improvement in all avenues of communication might be in order.
