Kiwanis learn about screening
The Elgin Golden K Kiwanis will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 357 Division St., Elgin.
The program by Val Martini of Proponent Medical Group on the latest technology for screening and testing for hearing aids. Visitors are welcome. For information, call (847) 741-7176.
Jazz artist stop by Hemmens Friday
The Hemmens Cultural Center in Elgin welcomes international jazz recording artist Chris Korblein at 8 p.m. Friday.
Korblein's name has been synonymous with melodic guitar playing and soulful compositions for over a decade. This exclusive evening entitled "A Romantic Jazz Christmas" features songs from Chris Korblein's recordings as well as a medley of holiday favorites to set the mood for the season. He is joined by his friend, the world-renowned saxophonist and Chicago native Steve Cole.

Artists reception set at River Art studio
River Art studio and gallery, 121 Madison St., Algonquin will hold an artists reception from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday complete with holiday music.
Edwin Meyers art students from Elgin Community College and River Art students will be displaying various works in several mediums. Also featured will be jewelry designs by Beata Krupa.
Gallery hours are 2 to 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday; 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13-17.
