• Army National Guard Spec. Alec S. Boehm, son of Pamela H. and stepson of Gregory M. Goldbogen of Antioch, has been mobilized and activated for deployment to an undisclosed overseas location in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Operation Iraqi Freedom is the name given to military operations involving all the U.S. armed forces and coalition forces participating in efforts to free and secure Iraq. Mission objectives focus on force protection, peacekeeping, stabilization, security and counter-insurgency operations as the Iraqi transitional governing bodies assume full sovereign powers to govern its people.
Members of all branches of the U.S. military and multinational forces are assisting in rebuilding Iraq's economic and governmental infrastructure, and training and preparing Iraqi military and security forces to assume full authority and responsibility in defending and preserving Iraq's sovereignty and independence.
Boehm is a healthcare specialist (combat medic) normally assigned to the 708th Medical Company in Fort McCoy, Wis. He has served in the military for two years and is a 2003 graduate of Antioch Community High School.
• Air Force Senior Airman Derek P. Duba, son of Deborah Duba of Antioch, is deployed overseas to a forward operating base to support the missions of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.
Operation Enduring Freedom is the name given to anti-terrorism military operations involving U.S. troops and allied coalition partners. Reserve members from all branches of the U.S. armed forces have been mobilized, activated and deployed along with active duty members to support the war against global terrorism. The mission objectives encompass combating the international terrorist network or regime forces outside the borders of the United States. U.S. troops serve in South and Southwest Asia, Central Asia, the Arabian peninsula, the Horn of Africa, islands in the Pacific, and Europe.

Duba, a crew chief with four years of military service, and is normally assigned to the 319th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Grand Forks Air Force Base, N.D. The senior airman is a 2001 graduate of Antioch Community High School.
