Crash, not shooting, killed Aurora man

A 21-year-old man died from injuries in a Christmas Eve crash that took place just after a shooting in Aurora, authorities said Wednesday. An autopsy showed that Craig R. Escamilla died as a result of being ejected from his sport utility vehicle that struck a car, the Kane County coroner's office said. Police are investigating if Escamilla, of Batavia is linked to a nearby shooting that took place before the 11:30 a.m. crash at Galena Boulevard and West Street. The shooting was reported about a block south at Dower Place and West. No one was injured. Both incidents are under investigation.
