Lake Zurich gas station robbed

An unknown assailant with a handgun robbed a Lake Zurich gas station Wednesday evening, police said.

At 6:55 p.m., the robber walked into a Marathon gas station, 1125 S. Old Rand Road, with a small gun, asking the clerk for money, Sgt. Dave Anderson said.

Police did not release the gender of the robber.

An undisclosed amount was taken, police said.

The person ran northbound on Old Rand Road, wearing gray sweatpants and a hooded sweatshirt.
