St. Charles man charged in child porn case

Bond was set at $200,000 Tuesday for a 28-year-old St. Charles man accused of trading child pornography online.

Kristofer R. McMullen, of 1810 Walnut St. Apt. 4, was arrested at his place of employment Monday after investigators executed a search warrant and seized two computers from his apartment, police said.

McMullen was charged with three counts of child pornography possession with intent to disseminate after the Illinois Attorney General's High Tech Crimes Unit uncovered evidence he traded child pornography over the Internet, authorities said.

The arrest capped a six-week investigation involving local and state authorities.

"Child predators who think they are safe hiding behind a computer screen are no longer anonymous," Attorney General Lisa Madigan said in a statement released by St. Charles police. "I want to commend the St. Charles Police Department for their partnership and expeditious work to arrest this perpetrator."

McMullen's next court date is Dec. 28.
