Academy offers class on auditioning for musicals
The Noble Fool Theatricals Performing Arts Academy students will spend their holiday break learning classic musical theater songs from "Wicked," "Rent," "Godspell" and "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown," with the new three-day Musical Theatre Boot Camp at Pheasant Run Resort, 4051 E. Main St., St. Charles.
The three-day workshop is open to all experience levels between the ages of 8 to 18.
Students will focus on learning audition techniques for musical theater with equal emphasis on singing and dancing. Classes will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday to Friday, with a showcase on the Studio Stage at 2 p.m. Friday.
The musical instructor is Ken Jones, and the dance instructor is Christy Svoboda.
The three-day workshop is an opportunity for those interested in exploring musical theater, said Education Coordinator Tracy Whiteside. It is also good for more experienced theater students to refresh and improve their skills in preparation for Noble Fool Theatricals' Oliver! youth ensemble auditions in January, she said
The Performing Arts Academy opened its doors to classes and youth productions for the community in the fall of 2006, including classes on improvisation, scene-study, and auditions, as well as the critically acclaimed Youth Ensemble program.
The academy features some of the Chicago area's most respected teachers, directors, actors and musicians. Classes are for adults, children and business professionals looking to learn from the people who are working at what they love do.
