Trinity United Methodist marks 45th anniversary
It is definitely the busy season at area Christian churches.
But the folks at Trinity United Methodist Church of Carpentersville are taking some time out from the events of the Nativity to celebrate their 45th anniversary.
This Sunday, members, former members, friends and neighbors are invited to a special celebration at the church, at 1647 Ravine Lane, beginning at 10 a.m.
According to the pastor, the Rev. Jum Sook Kim-McDaniel, the church's worship committee has planned the event; it'll feature a slide show of old photos of the church and its members.
The congregation has also invited the Rev. Rich Rubietta a United Methodist minister from Grayslake, who will lead a special musical service of worship.
"He will lead the worship, and lots of contemporary and classic hymns and gospel-style songs," McDaniel said.
"Having Rich Rubietta here is one of the ways we keep ourselves open to fresh ways of worshipping God, and also reach out to our community and share a special experience together."
Rubietta is a graduate of Northwestern University with a degree in music, and an Illinois Arts Council ArtsTour artist. He is a songwriter and worship consultant who conducts interactive worship experiences, which include sing-alongs, original Scripture-based songs and stories.
Following the worship service, there will be a holiday dinner in the fellowship hall where, McDaniel said, guests will be treated to "homemade, delicious food donated by the Women's Group."
McDaniel said she is most proud of the church because of its community missions, such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Boy Scouts, and its monthly donation to the F.I.S.H. Food Pantry in Carpentersville.
