Krischke, trustees, failed residents
I just finished reading the article in the Daily Herald on Nov. 27 titled, "Fees, tax hikes, layoffs ahead."
Our former board, led by former mayor Jim Krischke and the trustees under his regime, have failed us miserably.
The so-called downtown revitalization that was so envisioned has now come to a complete halt. The developer has left a big pile of garbage which now needs to be cleaned up.
The majority of residents did not want this grand of a plan and now, we the residents, are going to be asked to pay for this disaster.
People's businesses and homes were taken from them. Where is the paved corner with the gazebo where Dave's used to be? Where are the buyers for the ugly colored, high-maintenance town homes that are left sitting as is and unfinished? What is the plan now, former board?
It is no surprise Krischke did not last in Hawthorn Woods. I am also amazed at his hiring in Missouri. Too bad those people did not do their homework and look into his past.
How did this mess come to be and who will clean it up? Us, the residents of Lake Zurich, that's who. The former board needs to be held accountable for this predicament. What nerve to ask us to pay for this mistake.
The majority of residents wanted a revitalization but not the scale it was drawn up to be. No doubt the leftover board members will backpedal and come up with excuses as to what has become. I for one will not buy it.
Accept the fact that you messed up and be accountable for your mistakes. We have been lied to and things gone ahead despite what the majority of residents wanted. The people who owned the businesses and homes that were taken should be able to sue all members of the board responsible for this mess but no, no one will admit their mistake and we will be asked to shoulder the burden of cleaning up their mess.
Nice going folks. What were you thinking? Now the new trustees are in a pickle, but I admire their perseverance in trying to help clean up the garbage.
Residents of Lake Zurich need to sound off to those responsible for what they have done to our lake area.
