Ballot order set in Campton Hills

A resident of the Fox Mill subdivision in Campton Hills nabbed the top spot on the Feb. 5 primary ballot Tuesday in a lottery to determine the order of seven candidates for the village board.

Challenger Laura Andersen's name will appear first on the ballot, followed by incumbent trustees Jim Kopec and Mike Millette. Following Millette will be challengers Susan George and John Strauss and incumbent Al Lenkaitis Jr., in that order.

A total of 13 residents are vying for six trustee seats. Each of the seven candidates involved in the lottery lined up before 9 a.m. the first day for candidate filings.

The names were drawn from a bowl by an audience volunteer at Tuesday night's village board meeting to determine ballot order.

Other trustee candidates, in the order they will appear on the remainder of the ballot, are William Brown, William Lundborg, Frederick Robinson, Susan Secondi, Richard Seehafer, Marty White and Gary Moore.

In the village president race, incumbent Patsy Smith's name will appear first, followed by that of challenger Robert Young.

The names of village clerk hopefuls Carolyn Higgins and Karen Dowd will appear in that order.

This will be the first election in Campton Hills since voters narrowly approved incorporation in the spring. The incumbents were appointed to temporary terms.
